emotional rescue is proud to reissue one of germanys best - if most underrated - collectives dunkelziffer. formed of dominik von senger, reiner linke and helmut zerlett, the floating line up also included contributions from cans damo suzuki and jaki liebetzeit, as well as the unknown cases stefan kratchen and reebop kwaku baah. this true supergroup, over a 6 year period, made 4 ground breaking albums that covered the classic krautrock blend of heavy, repetitive drumming, intricate, overlapping melody and sonic intonation, but expanded it to include heavy dub, soul and jazz elements. this special retrospection obi set is being issued as part of record store day and features the three 12 inches that will later be released individually.

the soft rocks collective feature twice on the upstart black rox label with two heavily tribal remixes for a so far unknown artist. the soft rocks take on *filaw* is wrapped in horns and jungle sounds - not too far off a 1970s brian jackson and gil scott heron collaboration. on the flip is a possible talking heads reference in *once in a life time*, which gathers mesmeric african drums and percussion, grooving in harmony to ritualistic chant. a mohican david byrne perhaps?

dubi records is a classic spin-off of an after hour kind of mood. we should do a really good label...yes here we are. the first release is a new project called doppelklikk, the guys behind this name arent unknown.

each track has been produced, played on, arranged and mixed by yousef, with collaborations coming from mercury prize nominee gwilyam simcock on the open and fresh sounding album finale dissolve . in fear of dusk features neil campbell, one of the uk s finest classical guitar players, creating an evocative masterpiece that is arguably yousef s strongest (and most complicated) club offering yet.already the dancefloor workouts have received heavy support from dj elite, with loco dice, magda, carl cox, guti, uner and nic fanciulli already wearing thin the promo copies. the project has allowed yousef to open up his collaborative instincts too, inviting some unknown but extremely talented musicians to perform.

vinyl only - like a child is a lead single from upcoming debut album journey by rising lithuanian producer mario basanov. it features vocal and song writing skills of young and unknown american talent athena radford and tells another peculiar modern day story where trans atlantic virtual friendship ends up with a sincere collaborative song of utmost and almost otherworldly beauty. elegantly packed together with remixes from viking disco don prins thomas, top ukrainian producer eugene filatov, and silence music associate few nolder like a child is a little gem to have and to hold.

elbee bad is another great underground house pioneer from the formative days of nyc house in the late eighties. the true story of house music finally gets told... tip! like the burrell brothers, elbee bad aka lamont booker, is an early house producer from new york city. and the comparison doesnt stop there. elbee bad has also recorded under different aliases and has also remained largely unknown to a wider audience. he has also recorded for nu groove records, for which he has recorded his most famous material, but like the burrells he wasnt a nu groove fixture. bad recorded for a slew of other independent new york house labels like bassment, city limits, easy street, red heat, united states of america and then there was his own larhon records

this latest release from hizatron and bashley galvanises the usual wigflexian- gloop with a more industrial edge and a superb implementation of found sounds. a darker pallet underpins the record but this is inverted then lifted with inserts of scattered euphoria. whilst all that is synonymous with the current face of techno lurks consistently in the background throughout, in an almost redemptive fashion, we are hoisted upward from a chromatic descent and set forth onto a crisp, bouncy path peppered with light. the depth of stereo field is utilised perfectly here and the use of dimension is something of a staple for all of those who call wigflex home. hizatron is known for his seamless arrangements, catchy melodies and punchy percussion and this record has that unquestionable tron swagger but the familiar sound is accelerated by new influences from bashley who although a relatively unknown member of the family brings a fresh range of timbres that compliment hizas signature grooves.

tommy stewarts disco love affair is the sound of hotlanta nightclub music in the late 70s. thats right - cultures of soul is bringing you an album of sensual disco delights from classic producer / composer / arranger / pianist tommy stewart. stewart is already well-known among disco collectors for his track >bump and hustle music< as well as his studio work with artists as diverse as major lance, tamiko jones and loleatta holloway.
disco love affair features 14 cuts of rare disco funk. this includes the great disco jams >pay the price<, >party nights< and >hotbox<, as well the brilliant unknown modern soul track >universal love<. featured are two cuts reworked by famous disco dj/remixer al kent. this album also contains two unreleased tracks, >night flight< and >beyond love<, taken from the vaults of tommys private archives.

nice price deal !!! here comes a record that shouldnt have been released in the first place. who first started to circulate the cd-r with the blue inscription waiting for kim / we get high is totally unknown. the more known though, is who has been playing these two tracks, the one subtly uplifting, the other cranky dark, over the last few months. its still an unsolved riddle who is responsible for those two very divergent (but obviously coming from a single source productions. the fact that now these two tracks are coming out as a white label doesnt shed any more light on the affair either. but will please the dj and club world nonetheless.

over the years scott fraser has recorded and remixed for emissions audio output, black nation, wave tech, relish, rush hour and world unknown to name but a few. his latest home is bird scarer for whom he has recorded 9 minutes of low slung machine funk loveliness (as featured on mr weatheralls recent masterpiece mix set). the b side comes courtesy of a remix by mr fairplay who more than reaches the high quality control he always sets himself.

hypnotic stripped sci-fi techno tracks proving there is unknown life to be seen through the looking glass. sci-fi techno tracks that tell a story. the ?through the looking glass? inspiration for the artist is the concept of the examination of the relationship between the observer and the tools used for the observation. the result is probably some of the sickest techno tracks we ve heard in a while! going somewhere between sahko and good old minimal detroit techno from mills and hood.

on the release number 013 with the first remix for the blackfox crew, the catalogue number 014 completely devotes itself to the belorussian dj, producers and label owner pasha joint, better known under the likeable alias trockensaft. with nearly 30 releases in the back anything but unknown in the business!

after debuting with an albums worth of experimental, ambient electronic explorations from the hugely talented nyc based jason letkiewicz under his alan hurst moniker, the emotional response label maintains such high standards with their second release. the focus shifts to timothy j fairplay, a uk producer whose growing discography is proving to be impressive too. ears should still be ringing to his world unknown released homage to ancient egypts predilection for psychedelic drugs and its little surprise he has been hand picked for the debut release on sir weatheralls new vinyl initiative bird scarer. the four tracks that make up somebody, somewhere retain that dubby mid tempo poise that permeated fairplays output to date, though he seems to revel in the freedom to experiment emotional response encourages, focusing more on developing expansive patterns of synths on tracks like >aim for the yellow sector< and the title track. special mention too for >i do not believe< which comes on in a deep medi doing digidub style!

losoul is back on logistic with 2 long and strong dancefloor tracks! this ep follows the line of the acclaimed dogma & calma ep released in 2010. sawce on the a side has a jackin chicago feeling with powerful pads that goes on the entire track – an old school flavour that the early 90s techno fans might particularly enjoy. constellar on the b side is a beauty! a futuristic and sophisticated techno piece with slow minded groove. this track will take you to unknown places - a fantastic journey to be listened loud so get on board and enjoy the ride

killer re release of this regis masterpiece album

sadly betty botox is no longer with us. she departed planet earth in 2010 and leaves a gaping hole amongst all those who knew her. she left behind a dat tape in her studio with the final ep written on the cover in lipstick, which her closest confidants feel she wanted to be her last statement to the world. so, after a slight delay, two years later, 4 tracks that were regular features in her musically wayward dj sets are now available for her to fans to hear and play. combining her love for psyche funk, cosmic synth, space rock and late 70s stadium rock these reworkings, remixes, refixes and reproductions of known and unknown tracks are sure to be hits on non-conservative dance floors everywhere.

with eddie cs previous creation for lets get lost barely out of the barrel of the the labels finely engineered hand cannon we are bombarded with two more selections from the canadian turned berliners seemingly limitless arsenal of secret weapons. masterful re-arrangement as ever ever from the now seasoned producer. side a yields wonderfully quirky balearic vibes while on the flip a horn and string led disco barn stormer reminiscent of a rub-n-tug unknown gem provides what is, for us at least, the highlight of the ep. two very different tracks and a great package all round.

clone classic cuts continues their re-issues series for one of the most influential techno acts ever: drexciya. the second selection of tracks includes favorites such as bang-bang,positron island,anti vapour waves and journey home complimented with some lesser or unknown tracks. raw, uncompromising music made with soul and creativity have always has been the trademark of drexciya (and also from their original label underground resistance) and this album is another showcase of their talents. btw there is not much further background info we can give. all that can be revealed is already out there.

semtek leaves the comfort of his excellent dont be afraid imprint to supply the third 12 inch on andy blake s in plain sight label, following stellar turns from youngtee and maarten van der vleuten. its not the first time blake has called on the london-based producers services - world unknown devotees will remember the monolithic >tacos for dinner< cut in association with chardonnay that appeared on that labels most recent 12 inch. >couer de lyon< is a chunky house jam of the highest order, shuffling hats, a stripped back bassline and a vocal many of you will recognise from one of mks most legendary remixes combine for a cut that overflows with sultry late night passion. flip over for some soundtracky house in the shape of >beaufort<, an analogue jam in the mould of legowelt that retains a club-ready potency and thus offers a more heads-down alternative to the a-side.

ander-traxx is a fresh label operating out of glasgow with the intent of releasing righteous underground house, and although mainly a platform for the labels founder alex-ander to showcase his own productions, ander-traxxs remit also includes the presentation of unknown talent for future releases. for this first release, alex steps up to the plate to deliver because of me, followed by 3 remixes from artists born and raised in glasgow. the original kicks things off with its intro of glacial pads and jittery hats, before quickly delving into a seriousely deep groove brimming with melodic layers. although because of me gives a strong nod to the recent developements of producers like omar s and kyle hall, it undoubtedly has the hallmarks of an alex-ander production, his unique arrangements coming to the forefront while still complimenting the crisp percussion that drives the track forward. carlos nilmmns (co founder of the formidable solab production unit) mix is a much more off-kilter and submerged affair. nilmmns plays down the epic quality of the original and adds chugging rhythmics and sweetcured piano work for a lesson in divine repetition. mesumas feedback mix goes in for the dancefloor attack, not surprising for a gentleman whos previous work has seen releases on hardgroove and seventh sign. rolling toms and a booming kick meet aquatic vocal samples and spectral harmonicas, and will still please those partial to deeper sounds. last up to give because of me the rework treatment is meschi (lunar disko, lux, snuff traxx), who mixes his chicago influenced analogue stylings perfectly with the source material. stripped down crescendos build up to a euphoric drop, and meschis elated melodies bring another twist to this excercise in deep funk. because of me is one of those rare e.ps that works just as well in a non-club enviroment as it does on the dancefloor. with this warning shot, alex-ander will surely be capturing the ears of many in 2012 and beyond.

the ganas ep is dedicated to professor jaime escalante who passed away on march 30, 2010. the movie >stand and deliver< was based on his life. as a math teacher, he worked hard to inspire latino students in east l.a. to work hard at their math skills and at life with desire or in spanish ganas. when everyone else expected latinos not to do well at advanced math and calculus, he reminded students that the aztecs and mayans were masters of numbers. the tracks on the >ganas ep< are designed to inspire listeners to overcome expectations and remember that todays so-called minorities are the descendents of some of the worlds greatest civilizations.
